The K students created these funky flower collages. Students first drew in the flower shape with permanent marker, colored with oil pastels and crayons, and glued objects from the "collage stuff" bins to create visual texture. The 2nd-5th grades created the collage insects following the same steps. They were allowed to invent an insect as long as it met the criteria of an insect: three body parts (head, thorax, abdomen), six legs, antennae, with wings and body designs optional. We discussed the idea of visual texture more in depth. I think the students did a terrific job of applying contrasting textures and patterns to their pieces. It was a fun Springtime project!
