Artistic Help Needed-Sidewalk Painting Commission

I have been asked to paint footprints leading down a long sidewalk out front of our school to the playground. I am thinking about the technical issues of doing this project and I am wondering if any of you have some ideas or thoughts on how I can accomplish this in two full days of work.

It will probably be close to 75-100 footprints of various sizes and colors, just me working on it. Hand painting each one seems the best option, but also very time consuming. Also, I am using a sealed acrylic paint with varnish and a gloss extender for working outdoors.

Thoughts? Previous experience in this area? I need help!

Thank you!

  1. You didn't mention it, but my guess you are using a stencil -- that would probably be the fastest. Maybe a large stencil that has more than one footprint on it would go even faster. Good luck!!

  3. Yes I was thinking of that! Today I also had another idea hit me. What do you think of using actual rubber shoes (Croc sandals I ruined while painting the house this summer) that I paint and then stamp on the sidewalk? Hmmmm...I just hope acrylic is durable enough for the ground.
