Snapblocks: Cheap and Easy Printmaking Plates


An art teacher of mine shared this and it is a great way to do printmaking with young students. 

These are thick foam blocks carpet cleaners use to pad furniture. They also happen to be soft enough to draw on with a pencil and they cost pennies apiece. They are similar to sheet foam we have all used, but much cheaper and small hands can manipulate them much better. You can even create larger plates by taping the blocks together on the back with masking tape.
