Recycled Magazine Fringe Ornaments

These amazing ornaments are made mostly with recycled materials! I am so impressed with how well these turned out in only one class period. It was a really fun lesson and such a good measurement and estimation activity as students determined the correct sizes for their circles.

Materials Needed:
Old magazines
Bottle caps of various sizes
White cardstock (for the base circle)
Glue sticks
Scissors
Hole punch
Yarn remnants
Permanent markers

Procedure:
Students created three progressively smaller circles out of magazines by tracing around recycled bottle lids of varying sizes. They were instructed to look for images that interest them as well as interesting colors and motifs. Students cut fringe on the edges of each circle and folded it up just a bit to create some added depth.
