And we're off to another exciting year of art-making and art learning! This year, I made a few changes to my classroom that I am loving and had to share:
The Art Library
I have always had an art library in some form or another in my room, however this year, I categorized the books into Art Fiction, Art Careers, Artist Biographies, Nature (a little science connection), and Art From Around the World. It is so much easier for the students to navigate through the library and so much easier for me to locate books to share with students.
Art Supply City
I used some awesome cardboard resist buildings my students created last year to make "Art Supply City." This is basically the student art supply self-serve area, but done in a much more fun way!
Wall Decorations
I printed some famous art quotes from well-known artists and posted them around our classroom. It really brings the artists, as well as their artwork, to life. I have also included two murals my students created last year--one of Starry Night by Van Gogh and Small Blue Horses by Franz Marc. I purchased the templates for these from Kathy Barbro at Art Projects for Kids. I highly recommend them!
I am so excited about the start of a new year and cannot wait to share our wonderful works of art! Stay tuned...
