Beautiful Oops! by Barney Saltzberg

Wow! I just discovered one of the best art books ever. Be sure to check out Beautiful Oops! by Barney Saltzberg. It is an amazing pop-up flap book about how artists can turn mistakes into something beautiful. The best thing about it is that the examples are authentic drawings based off of mistakes--paint drips, torn and folded paper, holes in the page, and others. The illustrations are just fantastic!

The book occasionally comes with this awesome poster, which I have up in my classroom:

I cannot wait to share Beautiful Oops! with all of my students!

  2. It is a wonderful book! I plan to do a whole lesson with my students about how mistakes are an opportunity to make something even cooler than they even planned. Such a great message for young artists! Thank you for such a great idea Mr. Saltzberg!
