Photos from Our ArtTech Club Exhibits: GT Expo

With my first grade student Marianna, who made a multimedia piece about outer space. Please notice the "I Heart Art" t-shirt!

This year, I sponsored a club for our Gifted and Talented students (grades 1-5) that we called ArtTech. I taught the students about different types of imaging technology and how they could be applied in art pieces. I mentored them through a semester-long art project of their choosing with the one requirement that their piece utilize one type of technology that we explored in the club: digital photography, scanners, high quality printers, photo editing/digital drawing, etc.

The students kept sketchbooks, which were the springboard for their ideas. They then created a written proposal, drafted a planning sketch, organized and requested materials, and got to work!

Here are some photos of their pieces from the Expo with titles, media, and a brief explanation about their technology. The artwork is so varied and imaginative! I was completely amazed by the level of depth and the complexity in these projects. Great job, students! I could not be more proud.
