Stained Glass Animals

Some of the Pre-K through 1st grade created these awesome "stained glass" animals. We used tissue squares with watered down Elmer's glue on recycled cardbboard. The students loved playing around with the colors and "mixing" them together by overlapping certain squares to make a new color. On their second visit, they drew their favorite animal in permanent marker on the surface and then colored with oil pastel. To give it a shiny appearance like glass, we finished these off with a coat of gloss medium applied with a sponge brush.

Materials Recap:
Recycled cardboard
Tissue paper squares in various colors
Decoupage glue (1:3 ratio of Elmer's Glue to water)
Brushes
Permanent markers
Oil pastels
Gloss medium
Foam brushes
