Stained Glass Windows

This project was done with PK-1st grade. Students were instructed to divide up a pre-drawn circle on translucent marker paper to create shapes similar to stained glass we observed during our lesson.

I had them color each section using Crayola Watercolor Pencils, which are absolutely fantastic if you have not yet given them a try! Think watercolor paint in stick form that turns into actual watercolor when plain water is applied. The kids loved working with them:

I was amazed at the variety of detail the students came up with on their own. Even students as young as four managed to create some pretty complex looking designs. After the students finished coloring, we used water and turned them into paint! Lovely pretend stained glass windows!
Materials Recap:
Translucent paper with pre-drawn circle (marker paper works best)
Permanent markers
Images of stained glass
Crayola Watercolor Pencils (that is the only brand I know of, but I am sure there are others)
Plain water
Brushes
