Self Portraits

The first week of school, the students were shown several famous and not-so-famous self-portraits by some unknown artists as well as artists Albrecht Durer, Frida Kahlo, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt van Rijn, and Vincent Van Gogh. We determined that some of the portraits looked realistic (or how a person looks in real life), and some were abstract (from imagination). Some of the images we saw were even a little bit of both! The students then created these self-portraits from observation as they looked at themselves in mirrors. They could make a realistic image, an abstract image, or one with some of both styles. Can you guess which is which?
